George Clooney won’t be starring in the 15th season of ER
Hollywood hearthrob George Clooney has addressed recent rumors he is set to star in the final season of ER ― and insisted, “No one has ever asked me”.
The actor, who starred as Doug Ross in the hit American medical drama, was rumored to be reprising his roll for a 15th season next fall.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Canada airing Monday, Clooney, 46, was asked if the rumors of a return are true. “No, never ― we never even talked about it,” he says in the interview. “No one has ever asked me.
“It’s the funniest thing. The story came out, and I was like ‘Where did that come from?’ It was everywhere ― I mean in one day!”
Clooney added that TV execs were unaware of his rumored reprisal, as well. “I ran into [ER Executive Producer] John Wells two days ago on the lot … and said to him, ‘What the hell happened?’ He said, ‘I don’t know. I don’t know where that came from’.”
But Clooney hasn’t forgotten his roots ― and is thankful for the effect the show has had on his career. “I was 33 when ER hit, so I have a very different outlook on the way things work,” he says. “I don’t think I was supposed to have been famous. I realize how much of this is luck.”(Showbiz Spy)-Mar 18 2008
George: 'E.R.' Rumor is DOA
There were rumors that George Clooney would be putting on his scrubs one more time for "E.R.," but George is telling "Extra" he has no plans to return to the NBC drama. "The truth of the matter is they wouldn't ask, and there really would be no reason for it."
Clooney is focused on his football comedy "Leatherheads," starring Renée Zellweger and John Krasinski. As the director and star of the film, which hits theaters April 14, George took some major hits. "There were a couple of really dumb moments," he explained. "The first day I just got laid out by a young kid... and I've got four more months of this! So then I put out a rule: don't hit the director."
George's orders didn't keep Renée and John from taking some off-the-field shots at the man behind the camera. "He's much better as a boss than as a friend, that's for sure. Hack!" Renée joked. Added John, "He's the worst. He is just the worst. As far as the camera goes, you usually want to point it towards the actors."
Still, Renée told "Extra" she's just lucky to be in the film. "He lost a bet," Renée said about being cast. "Pool. It was pool!" George teased, "The truth was there were so many other actresses I wanted to hire, but I did lose."(ExtraTV.com)-March 17, 2008
Playing doctor confounds Clooney
LOS ANGELES -- George Clooney isn't sure he'll scrub up for the final season of ER.
Reports surfaced this week that the show's producers were hoping to bring Clooney, along with other original cast members, back for its next and last year.
But yesterday, the 46-year-old Oscar winner expressed mixed feelings about the idea.
"All this stuff came up on the Internet. I got calls yesterday, 'I hear you're going back to ER.' I don't know," he told journalists while promoting his new football comedy, Leatherheads.
"It would depend on who asked me. (Executive producer) John Wells is a good friend. I have a funny feeling it's not really fair to the other actors on the show necessarily, but who knows? It's not something I'm against. Literally my office is about 50 feet from the ER stage, so there's still family there. It's not like I've gone away."
Clooney originated the role of Dr. Doug Ross on the NBC series when it debuted in 1994. The producers are also hoping to land Julianna Margulies, Noah Wyle and even Anthony Edwards -- who died on the show but could return in flashback form -- for an episode or two.(Edmonton Sun)- Sat, March 15, 2008
