"After 19 years of marriage, Marg and Alan have decided to take some time apart," the actress's rep told PEOPLE on Monday. "They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family."

Helgenberger, 50, and Rosenberg, 57, have an 18-year-old son.

Marg Helgenberger And Husband Split
CSI's Marg Helgenberger and her husband of 19 years have decided to split.

A publicist for the actress has confirmed that she and actor husband Alan Rosenberg "have decided to take some time apart." Rosenberg, who has occasionally appeared alongside his wife in episodes of CSI, is the current president of SAG.

Helgenberger's representative tells People.com, "They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family."

It's so sad to hear when couples are together for that long, and just can't make it work! Nineteen years is like an eternity in Hollywood!

CSI's Marg Helgenberger Splits From Hubby
Marg Helgenberger is no longer the first lady of the Screen Actors Guild.

A rep for the CSI star has confirmed that the actress has split from her husband of nearly two decades, SAG president and fellow thespian Alan Rosenberg.

"After 19 years of marriage, Marg and Alan have decided to take some time apart," her rep said in a statement. "They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family."

No reason was given for the separation.

Rosenberg, 57, and Helgenberger, who turned 50 just two weeks ago, have one child together, 18-year-old son Hugh.

The camera-ready couple tied the knot in September 1989 after meeting as costars on the soap opera Ryan's Hope. The duo reteamed onscreen in recent years, with Rosenberg having guest-starred in multiple episodes of CSI.

'CSI' Star Marg Helgenberger and Husband Alan Rosenberg Split
Actress Marg Helgenberger and her actor husband Alan Rosenberg have decided to go separate ways after 19 years of marriage. Her representative publicly confirmed their separation Monday, December 1, giving no words on the reason for their split.

"After 19 years of marriage, Marg and Alan have decided to take some time apart," Marg's representative said in a statement. "They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family."

Marg Helgenberger is well known for her role as Catherine Willows in CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation". Alan Rosenberg, meanwhile, is recognized as stage and screen actor, as well as the current president of the Screen Actors Guild. He occasionally appeared with Marg in several episodes of "CSI".

Marg and Alan first met on the set of "Ryan's Hope" in the 1980s. A few years later they began dating and in 1989 they eloped in San Francisco. Their son, Hugh Howard Rosenberg, was born in October the following year.

‘CSI’ Star Divorces SAG President Husband As Strike Fears Loom
Perhaps related to the impending actors strike, perhaps only because divorce is something everyone in Hollywood does eventually, “CSI” star Marg Helgenberger, it was announced today, has separated from her husband of 19 years, Screen Actors Guild president Alan Rosenberg.

“After 19 years of marriage, Marg and Alan have decided to take some time apart," Helgenberger's publicist told Us Weekly in a statement. "They love and respect each other and remain committed to their family."

The couple, who have an 18 year-old son, appeared together on the soap opera “Ryan’s Hope” in the early 80’s and later married in San Francisco.

With no reason given for the separation, the split comes as 57 year-old Rosenberg finds himself at the forefront of a contentious battle between Hollywood producers and actors over residual payments of so-called “new media.” Rumored for months to follow in the footsteps of the Writer’s Guild (whose strike last year cost California $2.1 billion), Rosenberg and his colleagues have been criticized in recent months for attempting to instigate a strike during one of the country’s most critical economic periods.

According to LA Times writer Patrick Goldstein, “[SAG] hopes that by getting a strike mandate from its membership - a strike referendum requires 75% approval from members who cast ballots - it can use the threat of a disruption of the Academy Awards to force studios to negotiate a better deal.”

Such a “disruption” would not only mean loss of work for actors, but to the tens of thousands of cameramen, audio engineers, make-up artists, costumers and lighting technicians whom such a strike would effect.

In an open letter sent to the LA Times on Thanksgiving eve, Rosenberg downplayed the consequences a strike would have during the current economic climate, noting, “Like it's our fault. As middle-income actors, we are the victims of corporate greed. We didn't cause this turmoil.”

Firing back on Sunday, the heads of 8 studios accused Rosenberg and SAG of elitism in a joint statement reading, “SAG is demanding that the entire industry literally throw out all of its hard work because it believes it deserves more than the 230,000 other working people in the business.”

The statement adds, “To comply with SAG's demands would mean SAG merits more than everyone else. Saying yes would jeopardize the trust we have so carefully established with the rest of the industry - at a time when this industry needs stability.”

Not surprisingly, many SAG members – including top-earners such as Tom Hanks and Alec Baldwin – have distanced themselves from Rosenberg and the proposed strike.

Apparently Helgenberger - who makes an estimated $6 million per year on “CSI” – has decided to distance herself as well.
